Dr Carla Botelho (PT), has been a Lecturer at the European Centre for Judges and Lawyers, EIPA's Antenna in Luxembourg, since January 2007. Having obtained a law degree from the Catholic University in Lisbon (1993), Ms Botelho was admitted to the Judicial Studies Centre (School for Judges and Public Prosecutors) (PT) and after two years of combined studies and practical training at Oeiras District Court, she was appointed Magistrate (Public Prosecutor) in 1996, working as a public prosecutor in the field of civil and criminal matters.
Since 2004, Ms Botelho worked as a Coordinator at the Bureau for International, European and Cooperation Affairs (BIECA) of the Portuguese Ministry of Justice; her responsibilities included in particular the coordination of Portugal's input as regards the European Judicial Network for Civil and Commercial Matters, the Barcelona Process and activities concerning judicial cooperation in civil and commercial matters.
Her tasks at the BIECA also involved representing Portugal on the Civil Law Committee at the Council of the European Union, dealing with, inter alia, the EU Regulations on the European Order for Payment Procedure and the European Small Claims Procedure, and representing Portugal on the Advisory Committee on the European Enforcement Order for Uncontested Claims.
Lastly, Ms Botelho was appointed as Portuguese coordinator of the EuroMed Justice Programme - Regional Cooperation Programme in the Field of Justice and Home Affairs for the Mediterranean Partners, the Programme Management Unit being EIPA's Antenna in Barcelona.
