Michael Kaeding (DE) joined EIPA in 2007 as a Lecturer in the Unit on EU decision making. He studied public policy and management (Verwaltungswissenschaften) at the University of Konstanz (Germany), Moscow State University (Russia) and Università degli Studi di Pavia (Italy). He holds a Doctorate from Leiden University (The Netherlands) for which he won the Van Poelje Prijs in 2008.

Work experience includes the Delegation of the European Commission to the United States (Political Section and Press & Public Affairs) in Washington D.C., the Brussels-based Secretariat General of the Council of the European Union (DGC III Transport), the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), and different positions with the Departments of Tax Law and Economics, and Public Administration at Leiden University.

He has been consultant for the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and various ministries and networks of EU Member States (DFID, MinBZK, DGAFP, Statskontoret, EUPAN, OECD).

He forms part of the editorial board of the Journal of European Integration and has published articles for European Union Politics, European Journal of Political Research, Journal of Public Policy, Journal of European Public Policy, Journal of Common Market Studies, Comparative European Politics, French Politics, European Law Journal, Journal of Legislative Studies and International Political Science Review.
