Dr Michael Kaeding

Michael Kaeding is Senior Leccturer in the ‘European Decision-Making’ Unit at the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) and an Honorary Fellow of the University of Maastricht. He trains European and national civil servants since 2007 and co-coordinates the multidisciplinary Master in European Public Affairs (EPA).

Michael is a graduate from the University of Konstanz and Leiden University, where he received his Ph.D. in 2007 and conducted postdoctoral studies at the Department of Tax Law and Economics. Meanwhile, he has been consultant for the EU institutions, various national ministries and EUPAN, and gained practical work experience with the Delegation of the European Commission to the United States in Washington, D.C., the Secretariat General of the Council of the European Union and the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS).

Michael is part of the editorial team of the Journal of European Integration and has written articles and books on topics such as the micromanagement of the European Parliament, coalition formation in the Council of Ministers, the co-decision procedure, comitology, EU agencies, European social dialogue, and the transposition of EU legislation across Member States.

Michael was a Fulbright scholar with the University of Wisconsin, Madison (Political Science/La Follette School of Public Affairs), USA between December 2010 and March 2011. He won the 2007 Prize for Best Ph.D. disseration in Public Administration in the Netherlands and Dutch speaking Belgium (Van Poelje Prijs).

His active working languages include English, French, German and Dutch.

Michael Kaeding est maître de conférences dans l’unité « Processus décisionnel européen » de l’Institut européen d’administration publique (IEAP) et membre honoraire de l’Université de Maastricht. Il forme, depuis 2007, des fonctionnaires européens et nationaux et coordonne le Master pluridisciplinaire en affaires publiques européennes (EPA).

Michael est diplômé de l’Université de Constance et de l’Université de Leyde, où il a obtenu son doctorat en 2007 et a mené des études postdoctorales au département de droit fiscal et d’économie. Ensuite, il a été consultant auprès des institutions européennes, de plusieurs ministères nationaux et du réseau EUPAN, et a acquis une expérience pratique à la délégation de la Commission européenne aux Etats-Unis à Washington D.C., au Secrétariat général du Conseil de l’Union européenne et au Centre d’études de la politique européenne (CEPS).

Michael fait partie du comité de rédaction du Journal of European Integration et a publié divers articles et ouvrages sur des thèmes tels que le micromanagement du Parlement européen, la formation de coalitions au Conseil des ministres, la procédure de codécision, la comitologie, les agences de l’UE, le dialogue social européen, et la transposition de la législation européenne dans les États membres.
